While I write satire, I do occasionally take off the jester’s cap. You have way oversimplified a complex issue. We have armed guards at schools. Including at Parkland at at the site of yesterday’s school shooting. It is likely there will be an armed guard at next week’s school shooting and the one after that as well. There seems to be this suggestion that shooters are picking places where they think there aren’t armed guards. That’s simply not the case. In the overwhelming majority of cases the shooter is picking a place where they feel they have been aggrieved or slighted.

As for the mental illness argument, the overwhelming majority of shootings in the United States are not committed by mentally ill persons. So that alone is nowhere near the solution.
